Am I Putting My Students At Risk in Physical Education?

The presenter will guarantee you will look at your teaching much differently after attending this workshop.
Tom will cover the basic four elements of negligence with the law. He will explain the legal concept of “indemnity” in Connecticut.
Tom, from his practical experiences with legal cases, will give examples of actual lawsuits involving: curriculum, supervision, facilities and supplies and equipment. He will explain how to avoid getting your district involved in a suit. He will also explain what to do, if you are named in a lawsuit.
Lastly, from the perspective of teachers contemplating retirement, he will explain how you can become an “expert witness”. He will give step by step directions how to craft your business.
Qualifications of Presenter:
Tom Bowler taught elementary physical education for 33 years in the Town of Vernon, CT. He has been an expert witness for attorneys throughout the United States for twenty-four (24) years. During this time, he has been involved in over 380 cases throughout the country. He has been deposed sixty-seven (67) times and has testified at eleven (11) trials. Tom graduated with a B.S. degree in physical education from the University of Connecticut in 1966. He received his M.Ed. from Springfield College in 1973. In 1981, Tom earned his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) from the University of Connecticut in the administration and supervision of special education.
